Tuesday, March 3rd, 2015

The new Ansible Editions ebook offering for March 2015 is The Complete Critical Assembly, collecting David Langford‘s semi-legendary book review columns for White Dwarf and related magazines.

All current Ansible Editions ebooks are listed on this online sales page.

The Apricot Files

Here’s a book which assembles a load of old computer magazine columns (Apricot File, 1985-1988). Because I have no shame.

An experiment

Saturday, July 7th, 2007

Probably the Ansible site would be more widely accessible if readers could change the size of the body type. I’ve made a first stab at this with an alternative version of Ansible 240 whose internal link menu (Go to: Next Previous …) includes the extra items Larger and — after enlargement — Smaller. Any comments?

Cookies must be enabled. The font size can’t be reduced below the usual 10 points but can be increased indefinitely — it looks a bit silly when it gets larger than the internal headings, but who am I to stand in the way of your artistic impulses? Other issues of Ansible are not affected, but will be if I go ahead with this.

Later: While I’m at it, there’s also a serif/sanserif font choice.

2007 Hugo Nominations

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

Although this is intended as a log of updates to my own sites, I can’t resist having a little gloat over the just-leaked Hugo shortlist. Thanks to all! — although I suspect my alarming run of luck is set to end this year.

New world order

I’m thinking of moving the Langford site updates page here, to make the entries available via RSS feed with less personal effort than the existing Ansible-only feed currently requires.
